Refugees Among Us
Safely Home Refugee Ministry trains and equips volunteers from local churches to meet refugees resettled in Las Vegas where they are - a world away from the home they knew. Through these relationships refugees are empowered to become self-sufficient as they adjust and integrate into American culture. Experiencing God’s love through tangible acts of mercy, kindness and authentic friendships, our desire is that refugees are confident that they are "safely home."
Giving to Safely Home provides expenses needed for rent and utilities for the Life Skills Center, teaching resources, van maintenance, special events, and needed items for refugees.
The support of a trusted friend is so important. Once trained, volunteers are connected to a new refugee friend or utilize their own skills to help at the Life Skills Centers. Volunteers may also help with special events and outings enriching the lives of refugees.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we desire to obey the commands given in God’s Word to love and treat strangers in our land with justice and mercy (Jeremiah 22:3, Leviticus 19:33-34).
